A Sunday afternoon "photoshoot"

For some strange reason this set of photos goes all pixelated when I enlarge them as I normally do. But they're some of my favourites so here they are.

Which one is your favourite?

PS as you read this, we're at the Bryan Adams concert!

Our little New Year's Eve photoshoot

I also made them pose in the Christmas hats since Christmas Day was so cold and there was no running around outside (for good light)

this is my favourite!

Photoshoot day!

I keep forgetting how torturous photoshoot day is around these parts.

We ALL get into a tizz - D tries to sabotage it by refusing to wear my colour scheme, the kids dragggggg their feet and I turn into a banshee, barking orders at everyone to MOVE IT!

I hate it. Really I do.

And then when I get the photos, they sustain me for another year.

*sigh*

Today was that day.

I don't know if I'm just past caring because of The Thing That Shall Remain Nameless but at any one point one kid is looking, the other is making faces at the camera and we're fake-smiling.

If Eve gets a few good photos, then MIRACLE.

We told the kids they could play AFTER the lady took all the photos she needed, and we did... for a good hour (the shoot was 45 mins!).

We then came home, gave ourselves ice-cream as a reward for staying sane, popped the kids into baths, fed them and into bed.

Here are a few photos I took when they were playing.

How was your Sunday?

Family photo shoot

So, two things:

1. Thank you for the nice things you said about the winter beauty photos. That was photo walk 1 on my winter list. I've already done number 2 and my last one needs to be about 20 minutes before sunset :)

2. The interview went well, I think. It's hard to know for sure - I felt good, I felt like they liked me but that's not to say they like me enough to employ me. Anyway, there are two other shortlisted candidates, I think from outside the organisation, not 100% sure though. My assessments are great though and perfect for this role so I hope they take that into account.

I'm hoping for a lovely birthday present of a new job :)

Right, onto the photos.

Seriously, I should have trained the kids to take pics ages ago :) I have so many nice ones (decent) of D, me and one kid which is such a blessing.

I have 120 photos taken this day (that's the remainder after deleting duds) and 48 of them are starred. A really high % for me which means I love a LOT!

Onto the photos. These are over a month old - they were taken on the 17 June public holiday again in our back garden, mostly against my white portrait wall.

this is 4!
and this!
this child is amazing at the moment - so lovable :)
glint of naughty
Mandy, this is the tap I've taken pics of before - nice low f-stop pics :)
I love this pic!
this handsome man's celebrating a birthday on Sat :)
This right here is the proof to D and the kids that it's ALWAYS worth it to schlep outside in the cold to get some photos. There is just nothing like beautiful light!

We finally got the disc from our photoshoot

1. Our photoshoot

I wasn't upset about waiting a month because at least she told me it would be that long when we had the shoot.

Unlike the other lady from last year who is just TERRIBLE at estimating time. Said one thing and delivered weeks later... all the time. Moving on...

I'm not WILD about them but it's because Jeanette spoiled me with lovely, natural, crisp, clear images for a few years. I'm not a fan of that soft focus look that is so popular.

That, and the fact I am so fat it's actually crazy. And of course Connor was acting up and doing the three-year-old face, which works well for self-portraits with me but not for stuff you're paying for!

Anyway, I told myself if there are a few I can use I'll be happy.

And there are definitely a few I can use.

We have 1 we can use for our digital Christmas greetings (!), and another 4 - 5 that are "wall print-worthy" so I'm happy.

Here are two pics - as I sort through more, I'll post a few more.

one of three pics of Connor genuinely laughing!
2.  My iphone

I am missing it dreadfully - I haven't taken one pic with the stupid Nokia in the 8 days I've been using it. Totally pointless to expend the effort for BLUR.

However, Mandy told me that it was delivered! So I should be getting it in about 1 - 2 weeks time, and I must say I can't wait.

I even had a dream about S (work friend and ex-boss) coming in straight from the airport to bring it to me at my desk. I know, pathetic!

3. Black and white challenge

oh my, I'm LOVING all the pics you're posting. I may not post many here on the blog but I LOVE black and white pics - always have. So classic and timeless :)

And this set just made my evening.

Today I tidied my bedroom so thoroughly Nester won't know what hit her when she sees it on Tuesday. I also sorted through more of the kids' clothes. It's a permanent item on my to-do list because they grow so quickly. I bought Connor two pairs of sandals about a month ago and he needs a new pair again!

But now, I really want to get those October pics done!

This week it's going to be blazing hot (29, 30, 31) and will then cool down to what is acceptable summer weather to me (remember I grew up on the coast which is a lovely temperate climate) of 25 degrees. But I said when we were in the throes of the cold weather that I wouldn't complain about summer this year and so far, I've been good :)

I'm looking forward to hitting that to-do list hard this week,  two defining work things happening... and finishing my ebook. Actually, if the ebook happens I'll be over the moon. Oh, and payday (iphone money) plus a lunch with a very special person on Friday! Yay :)

What are you looking forward to this week?

Our photoshoot and some conversations with Kendra

So we had our photoshoot today.

I tried to do the gray/ black/ purple thing but it was just too much schlep so we went purple. As a result I have a lot of clothes to take back because I just couldn't remember what K and C had in their wardrobes that was still unworn.

Of course I'm also 3.something kgs heavier than I've ever been. Shall I shock you? I'm only 3 kgs away from my "just before the babies were born" 32 weeks pregnant weight. Yes. I need to do something drastic.

I was all ready with my purple umbrella but alas, no rain. Although plenty of gorgeous grey skies so the most beautiful light.

I just had a look at the 302 pics I took (!) and even if we get nothing else that's good, I am SOOO happy with some of mine :)

The photographer was just lovely - she listened well (unlike the last Groupon lady) and very patient with my kids. She came prepared by printing out my Pinterest photoshoot inspiration board so we got some of those cute poses too :)

Here are some pics from my camera.

after chasing a peacock, D said something and they ran away. And yes, some people were working on a lovely Sat morning.
are you tired of these yet?

Kendra

the photographer showing my kids the pics she'd just taken

I just love taking pics of other people taking pics

I bribed them with lollies...

but they were only allowed to have them for about 5 minutes
MandyE, I had to get a pic or two in these chairs
D - he's smiling while watching the photographer take pics of the kids

So that was a million times better than the last one!

**************************************************

(all these converstions happened in the space of about 1.5 hours today)

Me: Kendra, you must stop picking up things in shops and on the ground
outside.

Kendra: You do know I love those things?

Me: Kendra, what should I make for supper tonight?

Kendra: Spaghetti

Me: Oh, PASTA?

Kendra: No, spaghetti!

Me: Okay baby, but spaghetti IS pasta. In any event, I don't think we have
any spaghetti.

Kendra: In that case, I'll have peas!

Kendra finished her food but said she's too full for her veggies. Connor finished his food, veggies and so he got a mini chelsea bun.

I hear them talking.

K: Connor, please can I have a bite?

C: Go ask Mummy for your own one.

K comes into the kitchen.

K: Mummy, please can I have a chelsea bun.

Me: Kendra, you said you're too full for your veggies so there's obviously no more space for a chelsea bun.

K: There is.

Me: There is what?

K: There is space for a Chelsea bun.

OH man! Adorable.

But... still no Chelsea bun. I am not swayed by cuteness.

So how was your Saturday? Are you swayed by your kids when they're being cute?

PS I need to tell you a tiny bit about the parenting course D and I are on.
