Guess where I'm off to tomorrow?

As is custom in this line of work, I was pulled into a meeting and told I'm off current project and onto the next as of tomorrow (three days is a lot of notice!).

So tomorrow I'm headed back to the CBD on a new project.

I certainly hope the traffic is not too bad and that I acquire my city-driving skills (weaving in and out of lanes) quickly....



but I'm looking forward to having more freedom than a two-year-old,

Jhb CBD mini photo walk

A few weeks ago, my one colleague and I were to meet an ex-colleague for lunch (she now works for the blue bank).

Ex-colleague says can we move earlier or cancel - I HATE cancelling so off we went at 10:30.

When we got back, even though I took about 5 minutes to take the photos, my soul was nurtured and my heart was full.

So I'm kind of obsessed with this first building.

I posted a pic on Instagram and Facebook a few weeks ago saying this is such a beautiful building and people said it looked like Harrods or like the Michaelangelo towers in Sandton.

It is, in fact, the original First Nat.ional Bank building in the Jhb CBD. From my little desk next to my colleagues where we squash into a tiny office, I look out on this beauty Mon - Thurs :)

I love that green domed roof so I brought in the big camera to take some pics. It didn't really work because the window was super dirty so the colour was terrible.

However, that's what black and white photos are for!

As much as I love the city I'm not going to walk over there ALONE with my big zoom lens to get decent (outside) pics and none of my boring colleagues are interested in even asking about my day, let alone humouring my passion for gorgeous old buildings. Except one... but she's a girl.

Many moons ago I worked there - Sage Centre. LOVED the location. In those days I took a bus into and out of town. Best thing ever.

Johannesburg CBD photowalk - part 1

Well, I feel quite chuffed that already I've had photowalk 1 of 6 (my goal for the year) and in the gorgeous CBD to boot!

Louisa and Jeanette were very fast walkers/ picture takers (or maybe it's that I'm too slow) - sorry guys, but I just love all the little details. Which made me wonder exactly how much I slowed the guys down in Charlotte :)

I had 204 pics when I started deleting, I now have 143 and of those, 78 are starred..... so to get 35 pics for blogging was amazing :) Hence the part 1 and 2.

I worked in the CBD for nearly 6 years and loved it. Although I was so scared my first two months because in PE where I'm from, we hardly had any buildings taller than 2 - 3 stories (this was 20 years ago when I moved here) so all these huge buildings plus all the people and cars just overwhelmed me completely... til I got hooked on the buzz :)

Here we go, the CBD through my lens :)

I love this little random Christmas ornament on one of the palisade fencing in the middle of the CBD

this is my money shot of the day. Also the best straight on shot facing down a street. This, to me, is the CBD. I spent 5 years walking these streets seeing exactly this view. The grey buildings on either side of Simmonds Street is Bank City.
