My kids are having a sleepover at MIL.
I know!!!!
She mailed us early this week to say if it worked out with our schedules, then the kids could come sleep over tonight.
Of course it worked out with our schedule :)
So we took them over this afternoon after church and then we went book shopping!
that famous corridor at my work |
And it's been nice to do things - organise and so forth - without little baby hands everywhere.
Still, I am missing those tiny baby hands :(
And now we're on our way to an Indian restaurant (we don't go to those anymore - sadly...), one I've wanted to go to for the last two years!
What are you up to this evening?
And do you ever have time alone IN YOUR HOUSE without kids?
ps Leslie, I can't email you back (I don't see the feedburner signups) but I am LOVING your comments and I love Ireland!!!!
Ooooh....I LOVE quiet time in my own home. We are having it next WEEKEND and I am counting the sleeps! We are trying to do it at least once every six weekends and of course during the holidays too!
ReplyDeleteI am in bed (have been here for most of the day because it is has rained ALL DAY LONG) and I plan to stay here and finish commenting on blogs. Then I will attempt to crochet this damn square that I just am not winning with. Enjoy your QUIET time.
I love that picture of you and D! Do you have it blown up. It's so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the quiet time alone with hubby and I hope there will be many more sleep overs :) or at least some ;)
I'm cooking, catching up on blogs (now I am just about to mark everything I have not read as read), reading a book and watching TV. Just relaxing. And looking forward to a relaxing Monday.
As a matter of fact ....
ReplyDeleteWe had arranged for J to go stay with Grandma and Grandpa for Sunday afternoon .... if needed.
We are in a 5 seat rental car (Dh backed into a tree ...) and there are 6 of us. So we we figured out how to get us all down, but were still one seat short.
Then V asked to go home with a new friend at church - our family's go WAY back, and they recently moved back to town here.
Grandma said that J could come anyway. About 10 minutes after L found out what was going on, and my halfaware telling her that she couldn't go because Grandma didn't have a carseat in her car ... she handed me a phone and asked me to call Gma ... and I did.
And the first thing out of her mouth ... "Ged my tarseed in your tar ... I'm tumming home wid you apter chursh!"
As it turned out, Grandpa was willing.
So only K has been with us today ... and you know a 17 year old is like not having anyone around at all.
But I'm reading for them to all come home again now.
You know, now that I think about it, I'm not sure I've ever had this pleasure. They've stayed with my parents when we've gone somewhere/been out, but never have I had time to just putz about the house.
ReplyDeleteI'm so proud of you, letting go of things for a whole evening! I know you enjoyed some great couple time...and I'm sure you were glad to get those sweeties back in your arms come the next day. :)
ReplyDeleteWoo hoo!! I know what a big step that is for you! Our time at home without the girls there is pretty rare. Most of the time when they stay somewhere, we have a date night or get errands done...so we wind up without a lot of time at home. Every once in awhile, I send them off to grandparents' so I can get some major cleaning done. It is MUCH easier without so much "help"! : )
ReplyDeleteHope the Indian restaurant was wonderful...you've waited for it long enough! : )
Nothing better than time in your own home minus the kids. You definately appreciate each other again and it's SO good to talk without being interrupted or worrying the kids may hear you talking about something they shouldn't!
ReplyDeleteLOL! I am so glad you had this breather. I am laughing purely because I have 3 grown children and 6 grandchildren and have never had an empty nest. The break we get when we go on holiday is enough for me. I love having my grandchildren over for sleepovers or just to hang out in my craft room.
ReplyDeleteOh we never have it and I really want it ! I sometimes am alone, no hubby and no kids, but seldom the two of us alone. Soon, sometime soon.
