Doing my own thing

Yesterday I received an email from Justine, the new personal trainer, and I literally squealed.

How sad is it that I'm excited to start working out again?!

I have a meeting with her tomorrow afternoon to discuss goals, scheduling, etc. (all my favourite things) and I can't wait.

Because I'm getting my flabby butt into gear again.

It's been 6 weeks since my last session :( so hopefully we'll have a session this week.

***************************

Isn't it funny how when inspiration strikes you can just go go go?

My friend, R, gave me a Weigh-Less magazine on Saturday and after paging through it, I was so inspired I cooked two things last night.

For those like me, it was macaroni cheese - I used beef instead of chicken - and tomato soup.

Why I have not made tomato soup before I really don't know!

It is so easy but of course, I never follow directions.

I look at the ingredients and then do my own thing :)

I need to stop the doing my own thing because I need to get serious about this weight thing and get it over and done with. I can't be doing this WL thing for months and months on end - my goal is 2 kg this month and then another 2 kg next month, and then I'm done!

***************************

I am always doing my own thing - I get a bee in my bonnet and off I go, no matter what.

I'm also the type of person who likes shopping alone (my friend with the twins, C, is the only other girl I know like me) and best of all, going to movies alone.

Did you gasp?

I only go with a friend so that it kills two birds with one stone, but actually, I prefer going alone :)

Are you someone who does your own thing or do you find comfort in doing things with other people?

Do you prefer to shop and go to movies alone?

PS I wrote a bit about mother's day on my organising blog if anyone's interested.

  1. I like doing my own thing. Shopping alone is wonderful because I can leave when I want or I can look at what I want when I want. I don't like movies in the theater period. I get bored. At home, I just fall asleep. LOL

  2. Shopping- on my own, for sure. I hate to go with someone else. Movies - I do not mind. None of my friends/ hubby talk during the main movie - so I am fine with that.

  3. I love love LOVE shopping alone! I've never gone to a movie alone, but I'm pretty sure that I would prefer that too!

  4. Depending on what mood I'm in, I'm happy to do either.

Some days you just want to be. In quiet. My favourite place for that has always been either the bath, or the Lion's brridge at the Walter Sisulu Botanical Garden. I could spend hours in absolute silence just being there (well, I could in the past when i actually had hours).

I'm not mad about mob things. I do much better interacting with one or two people up close and personal at a time. If there are too many and everyone goes off about all kinds of things I find I tend to zone out and be on my own anyway.

One of my commentors once wrote that I am actually a very busy introvert. He reckons if you get energy by being round people you are an extrovert, and if you feel drained after you are an introvert. I don't always feel drained - it really depends on the company. ;-)

  5. I too prefer to go shopping on my own but when it comes to the end of the month grocery shopping, hubby wants to come along. Then me and him go together without the kids. We enjoy doing that. Movies we also get someone to look after the kids. This is our date nights.

  6. I always chalk this up to being an only child...but I love to be by myself! I love, love, love enjoying lunch or coffee with a friend, but I'm just as content to eat by myself. And I love to shop alone, too. Most other people annoy me when we're shopping. :)

  7. I hate shopping with other people. I am a very slow, meandering shopper when I am not on a time constraint, and I always feel rushed when I'm with someone else. The ladies in my office take a Christmas shopping trip every year, but I can never do any serious shopping with 6 other women!

It's been a very long time since I have seen a movie alone. Usually if I go to the theater, it's a date night for me and J.

  8. I hate going places alone. I drag my kids with me just so I'm not by myself. I won't go to the movies or a restaurant without someone else. Shopping I will do, but prefer to have company, even if it's two cranky toddlers.

    I know, I'm weird LOL

  9. I love shopping alone. I don't mind taking the girls but I loathe going with DH. He ruins my shopping buzz.

We don't go out to movies. Like TV, I just don't have the patients to sit and watch.

  10. DEFINITELY prefer to shop on my own. It feels so relaxing. Movies, I prefer to go with someone but have gone by myself and it was fine. Fun, in its own way. Weird because I'm such an E but I think its just one of those exceptions.

  11. Woo hoo for exercise! I finally got myself up early and got on the elliptical machine at home for 45 minutes before i had to take a shower and start my day. It was awesome! So I'm trying to get my butt in gear again with exercise. I was so good last summer and loved how I looked.

On the other topic, I love to shop with my husband. Especially when it's clothes shopping. He really has the best taste in clothing. I think it's because he has 5 sisters. But everytime I go shopping without him, I'm not sure what I think. I hate when the salesperson says, "That looks great on you!" When I know it so doesn't. I'll make up my own mind on whether or not I like something, but usually when I'm trying stuff on, DH goes around for another look at the racks and comes up with some great finds! We took Niki shopping for her Point to Point look we have posted. I never would have thought I'd see her agree to wear bright pink. He convinced her and she looked fabulous!

  12. Love shopping on my own. Also love movies on my own. I have even gone to a restaurant by myself for a meal. Awesome news about getting your exercise back. I am hoping to win a competition on Friday that will guarantee me some serious exercise as well. Hold thumbs.x
